The purpose of this policy is to provide a framework for environmental management at the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) and to demonstrate NTPC's commitmwent to environmental protection.
In situations where the Corporation lacks the in-house extertise or manpower, the Corporation may use the services of Consultants.
Where economic opportunity is identified, the Northwest Territories Power Corporation will endeavour to maximize the energy efficiency of its operation through the use of reidual heat. Download entire policy for more information.
An annual and five-year Capital Plan will be prepared and updated, respectively, to set the Corporation's short and long term goals with respect to Capital improvements, expenditure and construction.
This policy will ensure NPTC customers and stakeholders receive adequate notice of planned outages and also ensure standardization of messaging and correct documentation of all customer communication in the event of planned outages.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation is committed to investing in the communities where we live and operate. Through our Community Investment Program, we provide community support through charitable donations, sponsorships and in-kind contributions. The Corporation demonstrates its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
In the event of an emergency the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) shall assemble an Emergency Response Team (ERT). It is the responsibility of the ERT to coordinate NTPC’s response to any emergency that may occur.
The Corporation will provide data, as may be readily available from records and deemed public information to external agencies (consultants, government departments) provided that doing so does not unduly burden Corporate resources.
Should the fulfillment of a request for information involve resources in excess of two person hours the Corporation will expect fair compensation for the time involved.
The Corporation shall enter into leases/licenses/maintenance agreements when it has been determined that such agreements are more cost-effective for the Corporation than a purchase, or where circumstances are such that it is required by law.
