This policy ensures that commitments made on behalf of NTPC are consistent with the overall direction of the Board of Directors.
To reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, NTPC will facilitate, investigate, actively pursue, and, when economically feasible, install alternative energy generation.
Vehicle and equipment idling has a significant impact on both air quality and fuel consumption costs. NTPC will eliminate unnecessary idling of NPTC operated vehicles and equipment.
NTPC maintains a “Report All Spills” policy that surpasses spill reporting requirements legislated by the Environmental Protection Act.
The Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC) shall make efforts to establish contracts with waste oil receivers to burn NTPC waste oil for the purpose of heat recovery. This provides an end use for the waste oil and avoids the costs of shipping and disposal.
NTPC will identify, delineate, quantify, and remediate soil and groundwater impacts resulting from ongoing and historic operations at its plant sites. NTPC will maintain community aesthetics and a positive corporate image throughout the remediation process.
NTPC transformer and fuel tank berms shall be emptied of water regularly to ensure suitable capacity in the event of a spill. Download the full policy for details.
