Responsibilities

Corporate Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) is responsible for developing and maintaining NTPC’s safety and environment programs. HSE does this by:

  • staying up to date on regulations and best practices in both safety and environment;
  • acting as a resource to all staff (management and employees, office and field staff);
  • performing facility audits for adherence to corporate safety and environmental policies;
  • creating and updating safety and environmental policies and procedures;
  • reporting, responding to, and investigating safety and environment incidents; and
  • training supervisors and staff on roles and responsibilities for safety and environmental protection.

HSE also presents a power safety program in the schools.

Helping NTPC to Achieve its Mission

Ensuring the health and safety of employees, the public, and the environment is integral to being regarded as an “exceptional utility”, as articulated in NTPC’s vision.  It is consistent with two of NTPC’s core values:

  • commitment to the safety of our employees and the public; and
  • respect and protect the environment in all our activities to ensure a sustainable environment for the NWT.
