The Snare Falls generator provides 7.4 MW of generating capacity to the Snare system. It was originally installed in 1961, and was last overhauled in 1995. An electronic governor was installed in 2013. This unit began showing signs of excessive wear in 2014, and temporary repairs were implemented to allow for planning and scheduling of a complete overhaul. The overhaul work is currently underway, with scheduled completion in April 2016. This overhaul is expected to extend the operating life of the Snare Falls turbine by up to 30 years.
