SAIFI, or the System Average Interruption Frequency Indicator is one of the industry-standard outage reporting measures used by NTPC. This indicator measures the average number of outages experienced by customers on a distribution system during a given time period. These interruptions may originate on generation, transmission, or distribution equipment. In 2015, NTPC's SAIFI results reached a 5-year low. This result was driven by diesel operation due to low water on the Snare System, which dramatically reduced outage frequency for customers in Yellowknife. SAIFI results by community for the 2015 calendar year are available here.
